It’s not every day you get to meet a former astronaut and former US Congresswoman. For those who don’t recall, Gabby Giffords is a former Congresswoman who was shot in the head while meeting with constituents in Tucson, Arizona in 2011. In the wake of the shooting, her husband Mark Kelly, a former space shuttle commander, took on a more public role. He has been outspoken on many issues that Arizonans and Americans are facing. Now, Mark is hoping to use that energy to create policy changes as he embarks on a campaign for the Senate seat once held by John McCain. Mark and Gabby are a truly inspirational couple, and it was powerful to see that their love has endured despite the challenges they’ve been through.
